JAKARTA - The DKI Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has identified the characteristics of landslide-prone landslides so that it is necessary for the public to be aware of the negative impact of ground movement in the capital city.

"Pay attention to the surrounding conditions. Areas prone to landslides have the characteristics of a tree with a curved stem," said Head of BPBD DKI Isnawa Adji in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 11, quoted from Antara.

In addition to the characteristics of curved tree trunks, Isnawa also revealed other characteristics, namely the presence of a layer of soil or rock that is tilted towards the outside. Then, there are cracks that form horseshoes or seepages of water on the slopes.

To minimize the negative impact and at the same time mitigation, he asked the public if they bought a house in a tilted area of land, make sure the house was surrounded by lots of trees.

"Because trees can make soil conditions stable and strong to withstand erosion," said the former Deputy Mayor of South Jakarta.

In addition, he also asked the public to ensure that the structure and construction of the house has a strong foundation so that it can support the house building properly.

"Avoid buying a house located in a slope area that has a slope of more than 20 percent," he said.

Based on data from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), several lands in DKI Jakarta Province are in the Medium Zone.

Medium Zones can occur if the rainfall is above normal, especially in areas bordering river valleys, road cliffs or if the slopes experience disruption. Meanwhile in the High Zone, the old ground movement can be reactivated.

PVMBG revealed that the potential for landslide-prone ground movement in Jakarta in January 2023 will expand to 15 points or increase compared to December 2022, which reached 10 points due to extreme weather.

There are 15 points in Jakarta that have the potential for ground movement, namely Central Jakarta covering the Menteng District area.

Then, South Jakarta covers the sub-districts of Cilandak, Jagakarsa, Kebayoran Baru, Kebayoran Lama, Mampang Prapatan, Pancoran, Pasar Minggu, Pesanggrahan and Tebet.

Furthermore, in East Jakarta, it covers the Cakung, Kramat Jati, Matraman, Pasar Rebo and Pulo Gadung sub-districts.

Observing this data, the addition of potential points for ground movement in DKI compared to December 2022, namely Tebet, Menteng, Matraman, Pulo Gadung and Cakung.
