Easy, Gregoria Only Need 37 Minutes To Get The 5th Superior From China In The First Round Of The Malaysia Open 2023
JAKARTA - Two Indonesian representatives in the women's number managed to open Indonesia's journey at the Malaysia Open 2023 sweetly. Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi won over their respective opponents.
Gregoria who entered the women's singles number managed to beat China's representative, He Bing Jiao. In the match which took place at the Axiata Arena, Malaysia on Tuesday, January 10 morning WIB, Gregoria won in two straight games over the second seed.
Gregoria only needed 37 minutes to secure the final score of 21-11 and 21-17. The Cipayung Pelatnas athlete was able to overthrow Bing Jiao thanks to a slick appearance that took advantage of the opportunity since the first game.
"In the first game, the opponent could not control it well, so I wanted to take advantage of that opportunity. In the first game, the opponent also seemed to have pressure," said Gregoria after the match.
"I'm happy because I won from Bing Jiao, I played well but I can't be satisfied here," he continued, as quoted from the video uploaded to Badmintalk's Instagram account.
With this victory, Gregoria will advance to the second round by challenging the winner of the match between Aakarshi Kashyap vs Wen Chi Mount.
Following in the footsteps of Gregoria who won over He Bing Jiao, in the women's doubles number there was Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi who also confirmed a ticket to the advanced round.
Ana/Tiwi qualified for the second round after winning two straight games over Margot Lambert/Anne Tran. The Indonesian representative only needed 32 minutes to confirm the score 21-16 and 21-15 over the French representative.
With this victory, Ana/Tiwi will explore the second round in the women's doubles to challenge Chinese representatives Ch Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan. The number one doubles qualified after winning 21-11 and 21-14 over Debora Jille/Cheryl Senen.
