Visiting Indonesia, The Prime Minister Of Malaysia Will Meet Jokowi In A Matter Of Economic Cooperation And Investment In IKN

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) revealed that Malaysian Prime Minister, His Excellency Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Indonesian President Joko Widodo will discuss economic cooperation and Malaysian investment in the State Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago.

"One of the important issues that will be discussed is Malaysia's economic and investment cooperation in the State Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago," said PUPR Ministry Spokesperson Endra S Atmawidjaja in a statement quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 8.

Endra added that on November 30, 2022, Minister Basuki together with the IKN Authority, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment Coordination, and the ranks of the SOEs Board made a working visit in the context of promoting investment opportunities in IKN.

The investment forum is in demand by more than 200 participants from various types of industry and business, such as construction, property, telecommunications, renewable energy to start-ups.

"Hopefully we can get more concrete results for IKN development from the results of the meeting between the two leaders of countries, Indonesia and Malaysia," he said.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono together with Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato' Seri Diraja Zambry Abdul Kadir welcomed the arrival of Malaysian Prime Minister His Excellency Dato' Anwar Ibrahim series and Dr. Hajjah Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at Soekarno-Hatta Cengkareng Airport, Banten, Sunday 8 January.

Malaysian Prime Minister YM Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who was just inaugurated in November 2022, made his first bilateral visit to Indonesia from January 8 to 9, 2022. The visit was at the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

On this visit, the Malaysian PM is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with President Jokowi which is planned to be held at the Bogor Palace to discuss the progress of bilateral cooperation, explore the potential for new cooperation, and promote joint efforts to overcome regional and global challenges.

Previously on December 30, 2022, President Joko Widodo received Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato with the Seri Diraja Zambry Abdul Kadir and a delegation at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
