The 2022 AFF Cup Semifinals Leg 1 Preview For The Indonesian National Team Vs Vietnam: Shin Tae-yong And Park Hang-seo T-Tactic Tests
JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team will meet Vietnam in the first leg of the 2022 AFF Cup semifinals. This match will be a battle for tactics between Shin Tae-yong and his compatriot Park Hang-seo.
The first meeting between the two teams will take place at the Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Friday, January 6, 2022 starting at 16.30.
Both teams got tickets to the semifinals with a similar group phase record. Each bagged three wins and one draw from four matches.
Indonesia, who lost on goal difference to Thailand, qualified as runners up in Group A. Meanwhile, The Golden Stars squad topped Group B with a record that they never conceded and netted 12 goals.
The same number of goals was also scored by Indonesia during the group stage. Unfortunately, Indonesia conceded three goals, each when they met Cambodia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
Apart from conceding, Garuda's troops also have homework to do in attack. Egy Maulana Vikri and his friends are considered to have wasted too many opportunities during the group stage.
"I have prepared so that there are no more words we are unlucky or not good in finishing (final settlement)," Shin said at a press conference yesterday.
Even though it was bad in the final settlement, Indonesia had a better record when it met Vietnam in this biennial event. Three wins have been obtained from 10 previous clashes.
Vietnam only won one. Meanwhile, six other matches ended in a draw, including the 2020 edition when both teams played goalless in the group stage.
In addition to a better record, Indonesia is also likely to be strengthened again by the main goalkeeper Nadeo Argawinata. The Bali United goalkeeper is already fit.
Nadeo previously picked up an injury when the Indonesian national team won 2-1 over the Philippines in the final group stage match on January 2. At that time, the 25-year-old was withdrawn in the middle of the first half.
He had a stomach problem after a clash with Philippine captain Stephan Schrock. His position under the bar was later replaced by Syahrul Trisna.
However, he has joined and trained with the team. Therefore, Shin most likely put it together from the first minute in the evening.
