Gus Yahya Went To The Palace To Leave An Invitation To Jokowi To Attend The NU Century Harlah

JAKARTA - The Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board came to the Merdeka Palace to invite President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to the main series of events for the Birthday of the NU Century.

"We asked President Jokowi to be pleased to attend the event, and thank God the President has conveyed his principle of approval to attend, hopefully there will be no obstacles," said PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf to the media crew after the meeting, Monday, January 2.

PBNU plans to hold a reception to commemorate the Birthday of the NU Century on February 7, 2023 in Sidoarjo, East Java.

The reception is planned to be followed by representatives from one million NU pilgrims, ulama leaders in Indonesia, as well as scholars from various countries in the world.

Yahya also conveyed that several other activities in a series of commemorations of the Birthday of the NU Century were the Nusantara Islamic Traditional Art Festival which will be held in Banyuwangi, East Java, on January 9, 2023 and the NU Porseni in Solo, Central Java, on January 15-21, 2023.

Yahya said that President Jokowi also gave directions so that NU could continue to consolidate intensively in carrying out its duties and face challenges.

"President Jokowi also gave directions to MU to consolidate to the base to help prepare for the national challenges that are likely to come," he said.

As previously reported, PBNU plans to invite hundreds of scholars from around the world to attend the Civil Fiqh Congress as a series of NU Century celebrations.

The Civil Fiqh Congress is planned to be held on February 5-6, 2023, or end exactly a day before the peak of NU's One Century celebrations.

Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas last month delivered a direct invitation to Grand Sheikh Al Azhr Prof. Dr Ahmed Al Tayeb to attend the Civil Fiqh Congress when the two met in Cairo, Egypt.
