Tanjungpinang Kepri Handi 83 Cases Of Child Violence Throughout 2022, Dominated By Women Victims
The Indonesian Embassy - The Office of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, and Community Empowerment of Tanjungpinang City during 2022 recorded 83 cases of violence against children.
Head of the Tanjungpinang City Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Community Empowerment Service, Rustam, explained that cases of violence against children that occurred during 2022 included 46 cases of sexual violence, 16 cases of physical violence, and 13 cases of psychological violence.
"There are also cases of child neglect, with eight victims," he said in Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands Province (Kepri), Monday, January 2, as reported by Antara.
He added that the victims of violence consisted of 62 girls and 21 boys.
When compared to the number of cases of violence against children in 2021, he said, the number of cases of violence against children in Tanjungpinang City will increase by seven in 2022.
"In 2021, the number of victims in cases of violence against children will be 76 people," said the former Head of the Tanjungpinang City Health Office.
He revealed that the perpetrators of violence against children are mostly people in the family environment or the environment where children live.
Rustam said the weak application of religious values and family resilience were triggering factors for violence against children.
Therefore, he said, the city government is trying to improve counseling to parents regarding efforts to prevent violence against children and the correct parenting pattern.
"Various parties are also cooperating to expand this socialization, including universities, community institutions, the PKK mobilizing team...," he said.
In addition, he said, the city government runs Community-Based Integrated Child Protection Programs and involves schools, religious institutions, environmental management forums for neighborhoods and community units, child forums, business actors, and mass media in socializing child protection efforts.
