Arsenal's Urge To Bring In New Players In January, Arteta: Maybe
JAKARTA - Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta urged his club to sign new players as soon as possible in the January transfer market.
The Gunners will have a tough Premier League fixture schedule in January, against Newcastle United (January 4), Tottenham Hotspur (January 15) and Manchester United (January 22).
"We know the importance of getting players early in the summer and that's the same thing we want to do in January," Arteta said, quoted by Antara via the Daily Mail on Monday.
"It's idealistic. Sometimes it's not realistic. But what's clear, if you ask my opinion, as soon as possible we want the players to adapt."
Shakhtar Donetsk striker Mykhaylo Mudrysk is now Arsenal's priority transfer after they lost Gabriel Jesus for a long time due to injury.
Arteta said that he now relies on Arsenal's sporting director Edu to bring in the right players for the club.
"We are very aligned with the players we are looking for," said Arteta.
"What we can't do is get players who aren't for us," he said. "We need players who make the team better."
Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League standings and five points ahead of Manchester City in second place.
Arteta's squad will face West Ham United at "Boxing Day" on Tuesday morning WIB.
