No Additional COVID-19 Cases, Batam Notes Five Districts Entering The Green Zone

The status of BATAM - Five sub-districts in Batam City, Riau Islands Province, is a COVID-19 green zone, according to a report by the Batam City COVID-19 Task Force.

Spokesperson for the Batam City COVID-19 Task Force, Azril Apriansyah, said that the areas that are COVID-19 green zones are Bulang, Galang, Batu Ampar, Batu Aji and Behindpadang sub-districts.

The Task Force reports that seven sub-districts are in the yellow zone.

As reported by Antara on Saturday, December 24, the Task Force recorded zero additional COVID-19 patients in Batam City, bringing the cumulative number of residents infected with the corona virus in the city since the beginning of the pandemic to now a total of 31,767 people.

As many as 30,793 COVID-19 sufferers in Batam City were recorded to have completed quarantine and 962 others died so that the remaining 12 patients, 3 people underwent self-isolation and 9 people were hospitalized.

According to the results of the assessment of the pandemic situation as of December 22, 2022, the Batam City area is at level two with a number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 as much as 0.25 per 100 population per week, the number of hospitalization cases is 0.56 per 100 thousand inhabitants per week, and the death rate is 0.00 per 100 thousand inhabitants per week.

The positivity rate, the comparison of the number of positive cases of COVID-19 with the number of examinations carried out, was recorded at 0.44 percent per week in Batam City.

The tracking rate of cases of corona virus infection in Batam City is considered adequate with a close contact ratio of 13.71 per confirmed case per week.

The bed occupancy rate prepared for COVID-19 patients in hospitals in Batam City is 0.69 percent per week.

In addition, the full dose of COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 92.28 percent of the target in Batam City.

Currently, the Batam City Government continues to make efforts to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases by tightening the implementation of health protocols and increasing the coverage of the third dose of vaccination or booster dose.

Deputy Mayor of Batam Amsakar Achmad appealed to the public to tighten the implementation of health protocols again, especially in the use of masks to avoid exposure to the corona virus.

"Let's tighten the use of masks again. We hope that all people and officers in their respective environment can observe the development of COVID-19 for prevention as early as possible," said Amsakar.
