This Year The Steel Industry Grows 20.6 Percent In The Third Quarter, The Highest For The Last 10 Years
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) noted that the Metal Industry sector grew by 20.6 percent in the third quarter of 2022. Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics Industry (Dirjen ILMATE) Taufiek Bawazier revealed that this achievement was the highest in the last 10 years. And one of the biggest supports is the steel industry.
The 3rd quarter of the metal industry grew 20.2 percent. Over the last 10 years, it was the highest. So there has never been this great metal growth," explained Taufiek in a written statement, Saturday, December 24.
Taufiek added that the government has been continuing to encourage the downstream industry program. As has been done by Tatalogam Lestari, who has been able to market downstream products abroad.
The involvement of the Small and Medium Industries (IKM) of natural stones in producing metal roof products of export quality under the name Multi Sirap is also referred to as a very important part of downstreaming.
The first thing the government continues to support. This (export end product) is the concept of a downstream form of steel. So we also apply supply - demand between upstream, middle and downstream. This Hilir is actually the most important part because in the end product it has been directly used by end users. And from there we support it to implement a mild steel profile SNI. Because that's the part to regulate trading so that a healthy business climate is created too," explained Taufiek again.
Meanwhile, Vice President of the Tatalogam Group, Stephanus Koeswandi, explained that the metal roof product Multi Sirap is the final product of light steel in the form of metal roofs covered with chert stones and and rocks or unique natural rocks from a volcano that has a high level of violence.
This rock is able to reduce extreme temperatures and reduce sound. This stone has also passed the resistance test in America and has succeeded in pocketing the FM Approvals (Factory Mutual Approvals) and ASTM (American Standard Testing and Material) certificates.
Atap Multi Sirap is the result of a collaboration between Tatalogam Lestari and UD Celladia, IKM, a natural rock craftsman in Trenggalek, East Java who has partnered with us since 1994. Then in 2000 we built the IKM until finally a few days ago we were awarded the Upakarti award from the Ministry of Industry for being a pioneer industry that can bring Indonesian products abroad which has a link and match with IKM," he explained.
Stephanus added, as many as 20 tons of Multi Sirap metal roofs worth IDR 1 billion or USD 52,000 will be sent to Malaysia in the first export this time. But previously, the Tatalogam Group had also regularly exported zinc aluminum armored steel products with the Nexalume trademark to 15 countries worldwide with an export volume of 5000 tons per month.
"This time, our first export for downstream products will immediately meet users abroad. We hope that the start of downstream export products will provide added value not only in exports of raw or semi-finished materials. This is in accordance with the president's mandate to encourage the downstream industry program. So we are trying to strengthen the downstream industry both to meet domestic and foreign needs," Stephanus explained again.
