People Who Want To Travel To The Old City Museum Are EXpected To Increase Public Transportation
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency has prepared two parking bags near the Kota Tua tourist area, West Jakarta, to accommodate residents' motorized vehicles during the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year holidays.
"We appeal to the public to continue to use public transportation services," said Head of the DKI Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, quoted from Antara in Jakarta, Saturday, December 23.
The two parking bags are in Intan City Park or the former Glodok Building. Visitors can park their motorized vehicles and continue walking to the Kota Tua area.
However, he invited visitors to use public transportation, including TransJakarta or using an Electric Rail Train (KRL) which went directly to Jakarta Kota Station.
Meanwhile, the Kota Tua area during the Christmas and New Year holidays was crowded with visitors who enjoyed the historic Dutch-era building.
In addition to enjoying historical museums in the area, during Christmas and New Year, the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta held a Light Festival (Jakarta Lights Festival) to be held from December 22, 2022 to January 5, 2023. One of them is in the courtyard of the Jakarta History Museum in Kota Tua.
There are three Christmas trees that were erected in front of the museum complete with lamp decorations starting to turn on at 18.00 WIB.
Visitors can also enjoy the atmosphere of Kota Tua by riding an "ontel" or "gowes" bicycle rented or riding a wagon.
Suarno, a bicycle rental service provider, said that the average bicycle rental per 30 minutes with a rental price of Rp. 20,000.
He is grateful that the Christmas and New Year holidays have many visitors who rent bicycle services. From usually only less than 20 people per day to around 100 people per day.
The large number of tourists visiting Kota Tua also provides income to the wagon coachman.
"If you travel around Kota Tua, it's Rp80,000. During this holiday season, it's quite possible to get Rp. 1 million a day compared to normal days, which is around Rp. 500 thousand," said the coach of Kota, Aep Saepudin.
