Snowfall In Japan Died 8 People

JAKARTA - At least eight people have died and a number of others have been injured in heavy snowfall in Japan, officials said.

"Heavy snow continues to cause problems on the coast of the Sea of Japan," NHK TV reported on Friday, quoted by Antara.

Heavy snowfall was seen along the coast of the Sea of Japan in the northern and western regions.

"The typical winter type of pressure pattern occurs around Japan, i.e. allowing the masses of cold air to blow," the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

According to the agency, bad weather conditions are expected to continue until Monday (26/12).

Many areas in western Japan have reported new record snowfalls such as on the island of Shikoku.
