Kasih Update Hospital Pele Condition
JAKARTA - Football legend Pele is still undergoing treatment at the Albert Einstein Sao Paulo Hospital. The Brazilian has cancer, as well as kidney and heart problems.
How is the condition of the legend? Previously, it was reported that Pele, who is now 82 years old, had been transferred to the public ward.
However, the hospital said the former Santos player "required greater care related to kidney and heart dysfunction.
Pele was hospitalized in Sao Paulo on November 29 for re-evaluation of chemotherapy treatment since undergoing surgery to remove a colon tumor in September 2021. Doctors later diagnosed the man whose real name was Edson Arantes do Nascimento with respiratory infection.
Earlier this month, Pele's two daughters, Kely Nascimento and Flavia Arantes, tried to convince fans of her father's health by denying Pele's report that he had entered life's final treatment.
Now, the latest condition of the legend has been revealed to the public by Albert Einstein Hospital. They insist Pele is not undergoing intensive care.
"Edson Arantes do Nascimento shows the development of cancer and requires greater treatment regarding kidney and heart dysfunction," the hospital said as quoted by Antara via AFP, Thursday, December 22.
However, minutes after the hospital's announcement, Nascimento and Arantes said via Instagram that their father would not be home at Christmas.
"Our Christmas at home has been canceled," they wrote.
"Together with the doctors we decided that, for various reasons, it would be better for us to stay here with all the attention given by this new family in Einstein!!"
Pele scored more than 1,000 goals in one of the most historic careers in sport. He is the only footballer in the world to win the World Cup three times (1958, 1962 and 1970).
In recent years, "The King"'s health condition has been fragile and has rarely appeared in public, but is active on social media.
