Menpora Zainudin Amali accompanied the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to inspect the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK), Tuesday, December 20. They want to ensure that GBK is ready to hold the 2022 AFF Cup match.
The GBK Main Stadium will be the venue for the Indonesia national team match against Cambodia in the inaugural match which will take place on Friday, December 23.
The Minister of Youth and Sports said this was in accordance with the new Police Regulation. "Before implementation, we must first make sure whether the place of implementation is really ready, appropriate and of course we have taken into account various things that will appear before, during and after the match," said the Menpora on the official website of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The man from Gorontalo added that the government wants the public to be able to enjoy football matches comfortably and safely. He also hopes that the AFF Cup can be an interesting spectacle for the public.
The Minister of Youth and Sports then expressed his hope to see the Indonesian national team win their first match against Cambodia. In fact, he believes that Shin Tae-yong's team can reach the final and win.
"I've seen when the national team was doing TC training in Bali. Coach Shin Tae-yong has implemented a good program for them," said the Menpora.
"Hopefully they, when they first host Cambodia, can win the match," he continued.
