PDIP Dilema Ahead Of The 2024 Presidential Election: Willing To Be A Vice President Candidate Or Willing To Coalition With Prabowo

JAKARTA - So the king maker of politics does not mean that he can calmly carry out activities. The Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) Denny JA explained the dilemma of the king makers of presidential candidates.

LSI Denny JA researcher Fitri Hari revealed that the four leaders of the political parties who became king makers were PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri, Golkar Ketum Airlangga Hartarto, Gerindra chairman Prabowo Subianto, and NasDem chairman Surya Paloh. in the results of the October 2022 survey, Megawati's dilemma was related to the investigation of two PDIP cadres, namely Ganjar Pranowo and Puan Maharani, who would be appointed as presidential or vice presidential candidates Prabowo Subianto. If submitting Puan, PDIP is afraid Ganjar will be given another political party. But if Ganjar is offered as vice presidential candidate, the electability of the Central Java governor is higher than Prabowo. Referring to the results of the electability survey, LSI researcher Denny JA Fitri Hari said Ganjar is 25.8 percent superior, Prabowo Subianto is 23.9 percent, and Puan Maharani is 2.9 percent. The three figures, said Fitri, are also included in the current PDIP presidential and vice presidential candidates.

"The dilemma is to become Prabowo's vice presidential candidate for Puan or Ganjar, or leave Prabowo and advance PDIP cadres as presidential candidates," Fitri said in a survey presentation, Tuesday, December 20.

If Puan as Prabowo's vice presidential candidate, continued Fitri, there will be the potential for Ganjar to be proposed by other parties as a presidential candidate. For example, by Golkar, PAN and PPP who are members of the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB). However, Fitri considered it inappropriate if PDIP made Ganjar Prabowo as vice presidential candidate. This is because Ganjar's electability is higher than Prabowo.

"If you turn over Ganjar as Prabowo's vice presidential candidate, wouldn't Ganjar's electability be higher? And today's PDIP is bigger than Gerindra," said Fitri. The next dilemma, PDIP must be willing not to form a coalition with Gerindra. Because it is impossible to propose Ganjar as a presidential candidate, while Prabowo wants the same position.

"If Ganjar is a PDIP presidential candidate, then the dilemma lies in his vice president. Because Prabowo wants to become a presidential candidate," added Fitri. It is also impossible to form a coalition with PKS, Democrats and NasDem. "The remaining choice is cawapres Airlangga from KIB or Cak Imin from PKB," concluded Fitri.

This LSI Denny JA survey was conducted on October 10-19, 2022, involving 1,200 respondents spread across 34 provinces. The data collection process is carried out using the face-to-face interview method with a margin of error +/- 2.9 percent.
