There Was A Bomb Burst In The Central Java Police Mobile Brigade Simulation To Secure Christmas And New Year's At Borobudur Temple
The Central Java Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit (Brimob) conducted a security simulation of the threat of acts of terror in the tourist attraction area of Borobudur Temple. In the simulation, there was a scenario of a hostage-taking from tourists and a bomb discovery.
In fact, there was a bomb detonated in this simulation. According to the Deputy Commander of the Mobile Brigade Unit of the Central Java Police, AKBP Arif Agung, the bomb that exploded was a discovery that was destroyed on the spot if this bomb could not be carried or moved.
"So all of these simulations depicting the actual incident, found bombs, there were hostage-takings at tourist objects or vital objects and handling like the previous stage," said Arif, as reported by Antara, Saturday, December 17.
He then said that the implementation of this simulation was to face the Christmas and New Year 2023 holidays. They carry out exercises by being directly applied through simulations in vital objects, for example in the tourist area of Borobudur Temple.
"Facing Christmas and New Year, we carry out simulations in places or tourist objects that are the government's priority so that we can anticipate incidents that are considered terror," he said.
Arif conveyed that the personnel involved in this simulation came from the Central Java Police Mobile Brigade Unit from the Gegana Detachment assisted by Magelang Police personnel and coordinated with the Borobudur Conservation Center and PT Taman Wisata Borobudur Temple, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (TWC).
"We are collaborating in this simulation because if there is an incident at the vital tourist attraction of Borobudur Temple, it will involve all parties from the first security, then from securing other objects, we must cooperate with other stakeholders," said Arif.
In addition to Borobudur Temple, he said the Central Java Police Mobile Brigade Unit would also conduct the same simulation elsewhere, namely at the Railway Station in Semarang on Sunday (18/12).
"Incidentally, we visited Sunday and also carried out simulations at stations in Semarang. So in crowded places like this, because the Christmas and New Year holidays were quite busy," he said.
General Manager of the Borobudur Unit Jamaludin Mawardi said that today a simulation of handling the threat of terrorism was carried out if it occurred in the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park area considering that Borobudur Temple was one of the vital national objects.
"I think this simulation is very appropriate to be carried out, especially with the incident some time ago there was a suicide bombing in Bandung," he said.
According to him, security at the Borobudur Temple tourist attraction needs to be improved and today it is supported by the Central Java Police Mobile Brigade Unit to conduct a simulation of handling acts of terror.
He said this proves that the management of Borobudur Temple, both PT TWC and the Borobudur Conservation Center and all stakeholders need to work together on how to secure Borobudur, especially in the near future it will also be busy with the Christmas and New Year holidays, which are usually more tourists.
"Security is our top priority so that this simulation is carried out," he said.
