JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Directorate General of Railways estimates that 5.1 million people will travel during the 2022 Christmas and New Year 2023 holidays. Director General of Railways Risal Wasal said that during the Christmas and New Year holidays, the average daily passenger was 316,141 people.
"This year we predict that the number of passengers who will board the train during the Nataru period is 5.1 million during the Nataru period, with an average daily passenger of 316,141 people," he said at a press conference, Wednesday, December 14.
Risal said the highest number of passengers was predicted from December 24 to 25 and December 31, 2022 to January 1, 2023.
Ordering train tickets for Christmas holidays can be ordered from D-45. This means that with these conditions, KAI can predict when the peak flow of Christmas and New Year's homecoming will be.
"With these conditions, we can anticipate more to determine when the peak of train travel will be and we anticipate services for railways," he said.
Previously, the President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI Didiek Hartantyo revealed that the sale of train tickets for the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year holidays had sold 10.1 percent of the 5.56 million total tickets provided by KAI.

"We have sold 563,478 seats or 10.1 percent of the capacity we have provided 5,562,836," he said in a working meeting with Commission VI of the DPR, Wednesday, December 14.
Didiek said that his party also anticipates an increase in passengers on certain days, namely December 23, 24, and 25.
