Google News Showcase Present In Slovenia, Google Will Pay Quality Publishers

JAKARTA - Google has finally launched Google News Showcase, a licensing program for news publishers to support journalism in Slovenia.

"Google already has agreements with six national, regional and local news organizations from Slovenia, which provide important news coverage to people across the country," said Josko Mrndze, Google's Country Manager of Adriatics region, in a Google blog some time ago.

The six benefit organizations are Delo, watch out for Finance, Siol.net, Slovenske novice, Slovenska tiskovna agentcija and Styria Media si.

Google News Showcase will later provide more ways for publishers participating in Slovenia to engage with readers by giving them a way to compile news through various panels that appear in Google News and Discover.

This panel, which directs readers to a complete article on the publisher's website and gives news publishers more direct control over their presentations and branding, and helps them more visible to loyal readers.

"The News Showcase Panel with our partners in Slovenia began to appear on December 8, on Google News on Android, iOS, and the web, as well as on Discover on iOS and Android," he concluded.

As part of Google's agreement with publishers for News Showcase, the search giant also paid participating news organizations to give readers access to their limited paywall content.

With this feature meaning, readers can see more articles than they can see and potentially subscribe.

Google News Showcase is an example of how Google understands and appreciates the importance of quality news today and supports professional media makers and publishers," said Nata
