Twitter did not explain why Apple users were billed more than others on the web, but there were media reports that the company was looking for ways to offset costs charged on the App Store.
Twitter initially launched Twitter Blue in early November before stopping it because fake accounts mushroomed. Twitter Blue was then scheduled to roll out again on November 29 but was pushed back again.
Elon Musk, in a series of tweets last month listed various complaints with Apple, including the 30% cost iPhone makers charge software developers for in-app purchases.
He later accused Apple of threatening to block Twitter from its app store and also said that iPhone makers had stopped advertising on social media platforms.
However, following a meeting with Apple chief executive Tim Cook, he tweeted that a misunderstanding about Twitter's deletion from Apple's app store had been resolved.
Neither Twitter and Apple responded to requests for comment from Reuters.
