Train Full Of Collision Passengers At Spanish Station, 155 Digs
JAKARTA - At least 155 people were injured after two trains collided on the outskirts of Barcelona, emergency services said.
The accident occurred at around 07:50 a.m. local time at a station in the northeastern Catalonia region of Spain.
Local media reported that the trains were walking in the same direction and collided when one of them was parked at the station.
It's unclear how the accident happened and officials have not commented.
Emergency officials wrote on Twitter that the accident occurred at Montcada i Reixac - Manresa station, about 12 km (7 miles) from the city center, citing the BBC Dec. 7.
Writing on Twitter, emergency services said 150 people were "in mild injuries" and five others were "in less serious condition". They added that three people had been transferred to the hospital.
Drawing the moment of the collision, a passenger told Ser Catalunya outlet he had suffered an "extraordinary blow" and said "people were screaming".
Another passenger told RAC1, a local radio station, that "my train and carriage, the latter, were completely full" at the time of the collision.
There were no details on the injuries provided by officials, but local media said there were no serious injuries. The El Pais newspaper reported that a passenger train hit the back of another train at low speed.
"We were waiting for the train and we heard the sound of a collision, the stationary train moved two meters and stopped. Many people fell as a result of the collision because the train was very full," witness Pol Vios told the newspaper, as reported by The National News.
Meanwhile, Spain's Transport MinisterANchezsaid he was monitoring the situation closely and expected a "fast recovery" for the injured.
As a result of the accident, the local government said train traffic had been disrupted on several routes.
Ester Capella, a Catalan government representative in Madrid, told Spain's National Radio officials were studying the incident.
