Anticipate Flood Threats, Demak Pantau Police Monitoring The Condition Of The Cabean River Embankment
The Demak Resort Police, Central Java, went directly to the field to check the condition of the river embankment to ensure that no embankments were damaged in anticipation of the broken embankment so that flooding would not occur.
"The inspection of the Cabean River embankment in Tlogoweru Village, Guntur District is in order to anticipate early on against the threat of flooding during the rainy season," said Demak Police Chief AKBP Budi Adhy Buono, who directly led his staff to monitor and check the condition of the Cabean River embankment, in Demak, Saturday.
He said his party would also cooperate with various related parties in minimizing the potential for flooding due to the broken river embankment.
The local river embankment, he said, had previously been repaired by raising the embankment using heavy equipment and installing a booster with a coconut tree trunk.
In order to prevent damage to embankments, the public is asked not to make sodetan so that the Cabean River embankment does not break easily.
Flood cases also hit Demak on January 9, 2022, following the breakdown of the Tuntang River embankment in Trimulyo Village, Guntur District, which resulted in settlements and rice fields being flooded.
Almost every year, he said, water overflows from the Cabean River and the Tuntang River so that several village areas in Guntur District are also often flooded.
"Hopefully there will be no flooding in Demak Regency," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Tlogoweru Village, Jariyanto, explained that the Cabean River embankment on the right side had been repaired by the River Basin Center (BBWS), whose work began on November 21-27, 2022.
The repair of the embankment, he said, was temporary in the form of raising the embankment with a pile of 50 meters long, 1.5 meters high embankment and 1.5 meters wide.
