2022 World Cup: Beatn By Senegal 3-1, Qatar Disbanded!

JAKARTA - Qatar faced Senegal in the life and death match of Group A at the Al Thumama Stadium, Doha, on Friday night WIB.

Both teams lost their first game. Qatar was silenced 0-2 by Ecuador, while Senegal lost the same score to the Netherlands.

Just three minutes into the game, Senegal threatened the host's goal through Ismaila Sarr.

His right foot kick from a tight angle almost headed into the home goal and sideways a few centimeters.

Senegal threatened again. This time, Idrissa Gueye's cross was met by Famara Diedhiou's header in the 16th minute. However, it still deviated to the right of the Qatar goal.

Five minutes from halftime, Boulaye's kick from the center of the penalty box penetrated the bottom left side of the Qatar net which was escorted by Meshaal Barsham. Lions Of Teranga leads 1-0.

In the second half, Senegal did not relax the attack. The match lasted two minutes, Diedhiou's second attempt through the head managed to penetrate the Qatar goal.

Welcoming Ismail Jakobs' corner, the Allyaspor striker led his team to two balls.

Qatar narrowed down via Mohammed Muntari in the 77th minute. His header in the penalty box from Ismaeel Miohammad's cross, successfully penetrated the bottom left corner of Edourad Mendy's goal.

Ngotot equalized, Qatar conceded again in the 84th minute. This time Bamba Dieng launched a hard kick after receiving a pass from Iliman Ndiaye. The score was 3-1 for Senegal's victory to close the match.

With this result, Qatar is certain to be eliminated from the 2022 World Cup and must be a spectator at home. Whatever the result of the last match against the Dutch, it will not change the fate of The Maroon.

Qatar repeats South Africa's history (2010) as the home team for the World Cup that failed to qualify from the group stage.

Meanwhile, Senegal, opened up the opportunity to qualify for the round of 16 after bagging the first three points. In the last match, Kalidou Koulibaly et al will face Ecuador.
