The Former Boxing Champion Is Not Sure Canelo Will Play Bivol In The Doubles
JAKARTA - Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez regained his honor as champion after defeating Gennady Golovkin in their third trilogy duel some time ago. However, many still chose to remind the Mexican in his defeat against Dmitry Bivol.
There are some boxers who doubt Canelo where the latest to voice his opinion are former WBC and IBF welterweight champions Shawn Porter.
Currently, Canelo is looking forward to a rematch against Bivol next year, but Porter doesn't believe Canelo has a great chance of winning the duel because of what he pointed out against Triple G aka Golovkin.
"I hope Canelo dominates Triple G. I just think Triple G and Canelo are at two different levels, and Canelo doesn't show that," Porter told IFL TV, quoted by Marca, Wednesday.
"The fact that he didn't show it against Triple G in this trilogy fight makes me believe he may not be ready to play again with Bivol."
Porter has a lot of doubts about Canelo, especially as he doesn't see improvements in the Mexican. This makes him think he won't be as prepared as some people think when the time comes to face Bivol again.
"Canelo is not as prepared as he should be against Bivol. He doesn't have many fight strategies," Porter said again.
"He didn't make any adjustments. He didn't make a single adjustment against Bivol, and I know that back against Triple G, we will see the very dominant Canelo we've seen in the past and come right at Triple G as he did. However, we don't see anything different about Canelo."
