BNPB Calls 103 People Died And 7,064 Residents Extecting Due To Earthquakes In Cianjur Regency

JAKARTA - Plt. Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Abdul Muhari released the latest data on victims of the Cianjur earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 in Cianjur Regency, West Java Province, Tuesday, November 22.

"Total korban jiwa 103 orang meninggal dunia, 31 orang hilang, 377 orang luka-luka, 1 orang luka berat, 1 orang luka sedang, 11 orang luka ringan," kata Abdul Muhari saat dikonfirmasi VOI, Selasa, 22 November, siang.

In addition to the fatalities of more than a hundred people, BNPB also mentioned that 661 heads of families (KK) were affected and 7,064 people were forced to flee. "103 people died as residents of Cianjur Regency who are in Rancagoong Village, Cilaku District and Limbangsari Village, Cianjur District. Meanwhile, data collection is still being carried out in Cugenang District," he explained.

Abdul Muhari also explained that the impact of the earthquake in Cianjur Regency destroyed at least 2,835 houses that were lightly damaged, 2 houses were moderately damaged, 2 housing units were heavily damaged, 5 health facilities were damaged, 6 office buildings were damaged, 13 educational facilities were damaged, 5 worship facilities were damaged and 1 shophouse was damaged. "2 national roads and district roads were buried by landslides and 2 bridges were damaged," said Abdul.

Previously, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that history recorded that 14 destructive earthquakes occurred in the Cianjur-Sukabumi area.

"For the first time, the Cianjur-Sukabumi earthquake was recorded in 1844. Before 1844 there had also been an earthquake, but it was not recorded," said Head of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center, Daryono in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, November 22.

He said the 5.6 magnitude Cianjur earthquake that rocked the Cianjur area, West Java on Monday, November 21, was one of the destructive earthquakes.
