Sido Muncul Encourages The Use Of EBT In Running Business

JAKARTA - Director of PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO) Irwan Hidayat emphasized that his party will continue to encourage the use of new and renewable energy (EBT) in its business. This is the company's commitment, even though it has to pay more expensive electricity bills, which is 3 percent higher than industrial electricity.

"The use of new renewable energy or EBT costs 3 percent higher than industrial electricity. We remain committed to using EBT as a form of support for the government in reducing carbon emissions as well as environmental conservation and becoming an environmentally friendly green industry," said Irwan in a written statement, quoted Friday, November 18.

Previously, Sido Muncul had collaborated with PLN in the context of providing and using EBT. This was marked by the signing of an MoU between the two at the Sido Muncul Factory Tourism Agro, Semarang on Wednesday, October 26.

For this commitment, Sido Muncul was awarded a certificate from PLN as The First National Customers Category Herbal Medicine Company Receiving Renewable Energy Certificate (REC). Meanwhile, REC is one of the green product innovations of PLN to make it easier for customers to get recognition for the transparent and accountable use of EBT, and without having to spend investment costs for infrastructure development.

Furthermore, Irwan explained that 100 percent of the electrical resources purchased by Sido Muncul from PLN had used REC electrical energy. With this amount, Sido Muncul's current environmentally friendly energy sources are 95 percent.

With details of EBT 84 percent consisting of biomas obtained from herbal fuel and wood chip (51 percent), PLTS (2 percent), REC (31 percent), natural gas (11 percent) and fossil energy sources by 5 percent.

Not only that, he said, Sido Muncul has also operated rooftop Solar Power Plants (PLTS) at the factory. The operation of this solar panel is also a form of Sido Muncul's efforts in providing and using EBT, so it is hoped that it can accelerate the achievement of the carbon emission reduction target.
