Open 2.3 Million Jobs, Sandiaga Uno Offers Investments For 8 SEZs

JAKARTA - Attended by more than 200 participants, including 21 potential investors from various countries, the Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno opened the 2022 Global Tourism Forum in Jimbaran, Bali.

The meeting discusses tourism in the future. Especially about the rise and creators of quality and sustainable tourism, as well as the focus on job creation.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy offered investors an investment of US$6 billion to US$8 billion in eight Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

Sandiaga Uno hopes that the investment will be able to create as many as 2.3 million jobs for the community.

"We hope that apart from the eight SEZs, there are 12 sustainable tourism projects that we offer and 21 investors who are here will get a choice. I am very sure that this Global Tourism Forum will create a breakthrough, so that the target of creating 1.1 million jobs this year and 4.4 jobs in 2024 can be achieved," Sandiaga Uno said in his statement, Friday, November 18.

Sandiaga Uno added that this hope refers to the declaration made by state leaders at the G20 Summit, including flexibility in policies, macroeconomic stability.

In addition, sustainable development goals and investments are needed to create business opportunities and employment opportunities.

"This is all covered by the Global Tourism Forum, and a message from the President that we stop the war, we stop violence with humanitarian reasons for our rise and also this food and energy issue which is one of the main keys we can present," said Sandiaga Uno.

"Secondly, the President expects them to stay longer in Indonesia, in Bali and five super priority destinations, encouraging the rise of our economic sector," concluded the former Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta.
