Google Maps' AR Live View Feature Is Now Getting More Sophisticated, Being Able To Show You A Place To Talk And ATM
JAKARTA - Google is rolling out an update for its Maps app, where users can use augmented reality (AR) to explore which stores and public facilities happen to be in sight.
The update is part of the Live View feature, which previously focused mostly on overlaying directions on video feed around users.
The feature will only be available in London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, San Francisco, and Tokyo starting next week for iOS and Android users.
According to Google's information, this feature can show location users such as coffee shops and ATMs as they lift the phone with the camera on and direct it to the world around.
If a user is in the city where Google Search services with Live View are available, simply tap the camera button in the Google Maps search bar, point the phone's camera at the nearest building and place, and look for the point that appears, it shows the location of the building.
Users can tap the dot to learn more about the location. This feature works similarly to existing Live AR walking and transit instructions.
Launching The Verge, Friday, November 17, another update comes to Google Maps. If users are looking for an EV charging station, they can now set up a fast charging filter that helps find a station with a 50kW charger or higher.
Google also creates a place that can be accessed, users can see if the destination in Maps is accessible to wheelchairs, find restaurants and shops that offer climbs, parking lots, seats, and appropriate toilets. This feature is now available globally, after it was first launched in 2020 in Australia, Japan, the UK, and the US.
The last feature, Google also launched a new tool specifically in the US so users can see sneakers in AR. And the Multisearch feature, where users can search for the right food and see what restaurants are serving near them. That feature will be available on mobile devices and on Google Android and iOS apps.
