Amy Adams Tells About The Evolution Of Giselle's Characters In Dischanted Films

JAKARTA - Amy Adams shared her impression of returning to being a Disney (Disney princess) daughter, Giselle, in the film DISchanted. The film will be showing on Disney+ services starting November 18.

"For me, it's interesting because we're looking at where Giselle will be now. And when we leave it in the last film (Enchanted, 2007), there's an evolution from the beginning of the film Enhanced, about Giselle who will be Giselle at the end of the film," Adams said. quoted from ANTARA, November 16.

"So, it's kind of taking evolution about who Giselle is after spending 10 years, but also making sure we keep it grounded in the truth of its feelings, but without losing joy, naiveness, innocence, and purity that makes Giselle so special," he added.

Furthermore, Adams said he took everything he liked from the character he played 15 years ago. On the other hand, producer Barry Josephson said Adams' presence was the starting point for the team to bring back the world of Enhanced in this sequel.

"It was really fun. Amy was really our starting point to want to play with Giselle again. And actually, when Adam (Shankman, director) joined our development process, it took us to the stratosphere because he brought along Richard LaGravenese who developed the script," said the producer.

Meanwhile, Disenchanted is set for more than ten years since the marriage of Giselle (Adams) and Robert (Patrick Dempsey), but Giselle turns out to feel uncomfortable with life in a big city, so their family decides to move to a small town called Monroeville for a peaceful life like in a fairy tale country.

Unfortunately, the decision to move is not what Giselle expected. Monroeville turns out to have many rules and is led by Malvina Monroe (Maya Rudolph) which makes Giselle feel even more uncomfortable.

Disappointed because it was difficult to find the expected happiness, Giselle finally used Andalasia's magic. However, accidentally, the magic turned the entire city into a fairy tale that threatened his family.

This time Giselle had to compete with time to reverse the mantra and learn what happiness means for herself and her family.

Apart from Adams, Dempsey, and Rudolph, Disenchanted also starred Yvette Nicole Brown, Jayma Mays, Gabriella Baldacchino, Idina Menzel, and James Marsden.

Directed by Adam Shakman from the script by Brigitte Hales and the story from J. David Stem & David N. Weiss, and Richard LaGravenese, "Disenchanted" was produced by Barry Josephson, Barry Sonnenfeld, and Amy Adams, along with Jo Burn, Sunil Perkash, and Adam Shakman as executive producers.

The film was also accompanied by music and scoring from Alan Menken, a composer who won eight Oscar awards, and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, who won three Academy Award nominations through his work at Enhanced.
