The Head Of The Authority For Consumption Of IKN Will Become The Most Sustainable City In The World
Head of the Nusantara State Capital Authority (IKN) Bambang Susantono stated that the new capital city will later become one of the most sustainable cities not only at the Asian level but also at the world level.
"We are building IKN Nusantara to become one of the most sustainable cities not only in Asia but also in the world," he said at the High Level Experts and Leaders Panel (HELP) Conference of the G20 Indonesia Presidency in Bali, quoted from Antara, Friday 11 November.
Bambang explained that this would be realized because the development of IKN Nusantara prioritizes the aspect of habitability, namely paying attention to five elements of the future modern city, namely green, smart, inclusive, risilient and sustainable.
According to him, these five elements will make IKN Nusantara to be nature friendly, human-oriented and have excellent access and quality urban services.
IKN Nusantara is also designed as a smart city, which will be supported by advanced technology in various fields, including water resource management and waste disposal.
Even the government designed IKN Nusantara to become the Forest City of Lestari, which is only about 25 percent of the entire IKN that will be built.
While the remaining 75 will be maintained as green areas, including 65 percent of the region will remain tropical forests that act as carbon absorbers.
Bambang explained that the creation of tropical forests was carried out through a reforestation process to preserve ecology and increase water absorption to reduce the risk of flooding, including absorbing carbon.
"This is combined with a very controlled development area that allows the authorities to minimize carbon dioxide emissions in the city (IKN Nusantara)," he explained.
Therefore, IKN Nusantara, which is currently still in the infrastructure development stage, will later become a carbon-neutral city in 2045.
The Nusantara IKN, which will become a carbon-neutral city in 2045, will contribute to Indonesia's efforts to realize the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) as well as the Paris Agreement.
"Building IKN Nusantara is a development process with the concept of mutual cooperation. Joint efforts by various stakeholders to create new growth machines that offer equal opportunities for all," said Bambang.
