Uruguay's National Team Squad For The 2022 World Cup: Senior Players Stay Andalan, Including Edinson Cavani And Luis Suarez
JAKARTA - Uruguay national team coach Diego Alonso has announced the name of their squad for Qatar's 2022 World Cup. Senior players still get the trust.
Two of their aging strikers, Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani, have won the trust to appear again. This is the fourth time the two have received calls to play in the World Cup.
Cavani's summons is actually questionable. The 35-year-old is in prime condition due to repeated leg injuries. This season, he only performed 90 minutes with Valencia.
Suarez is still understandable. He has just led his team, Nacional, to win the Uruguay League.
In the goalkeeper sector, 36-year-old Fernando Muslera and Sebastian Sosa are also still trusted.
Meanwhile, senior defender Diego Godin was also summoned and will hold the armband. Apart from Godin, senior players who will also oversee the Uruguay defense are Martin Caceres and Sebastian Coates.
The middle line is the "green" one. Only Matias Vecino is over 30 years old, which is 31 years old.
Uruguay started their campaign at the 2022 World Cup on November 24 against South Korea, before facing Portugal on November 28 and ending Group H against Ghana on December 2.
