Lewandowski Said About His Competition With Haaland As Europe's Top Goalprinter: A Team More Important Than Individual Titles
JAKARTA - Robert Lewandowski will face stiff competition from Erling Haaland in his bid to defend his crown as Europe's top sniper.
The Polish striker just received the European Golden Boot 2022 with a total score of 35 goals last season. The number of goals earned him 70 points for a double factor and shifted the Paris Saint-Germain forward who scored 28 goals and got 56 points.
When asked about the competition this season with Manchester City Haaland striker at a ceremony held at the Estrella Damm beermaking site, Barcelona, the 34-year-old confirmed that the team was the mainstay.
"Thank you very much, I am very proud, I have worked very hard for this gift and thank you also to my former team-mate at Bayern," Lewandowski was quoted as saying by Marca, Thursday.
"The best thing for me is a team win, more than an individual reward or goal, but I will try to do it again, even though it will be difficult," he continued.
The player who got a red card in Barca's match against Osasuna on Tuesday night admitted that he was easy to adapt to Barcelona thanks to the squad and coaches. But there is a lot of work to be done for it.
"I have to keep working because it's been a very long season and when we get back out of the World Cup, there's still six months left," said Lewandowski.
