Vape Allegedly Contains DIG And EGmarins, A Voice Opening Producer
JAKARTA - Electric cigarettes or vape are suspected of being contaminated with dietilen glycol (DEG) and ethilen glycol (EG).
This is associated with the glycol propylene and glycol polyethylene which are also found in the liquid of e-cigarettes.
DEG and EG have become public conversations because they are suspected to cause acute kidney failure.
Responding to this, General Manager of RELX Indonesia Yudhistira Eka Saputra said glycon polyethylene can indeed be used in e-cigarettes. In fact, this substance can also be found in foodstuffs.
"This glycol province is actually a very common substance found anywhere and we also know that the glycol province is contained in food ingredients as well," he said when met at the Ministry of Industry Building, Jakarta, Thursday, November 3.
However, regarding whether or not this substance is safe, Yudhistira admits that there must be control.
Even so, Yudhistira ensured that the vape or e-cigarette product produced by RELX had met the safe limit for the use of glycol propylene.
"Yes, what needs to be controlled is the safe limit according to the test. RELX products in particular have met these limits," he said.
Agree, the Indonesian Electronic Code of Commerce Entrepreneurs Alliance (APPNINDO) Teguh Basuki Ari Wibowo said that it is safe whether glycol's propylene levels are related to levels.
"Basically the same as what Pak Yudhis said. So we see this is related to levels. It means that if it is like more than what is determined, from there there there will be more dangerous impacts," said Teguh.
For your information, the Lecturer of Medical Laboratory Technology (TML) at Muhammadiyah University (UM) Surabaya Vella Rohmayani explained that glycol propylene is not only commonly used as a solvent ingredient in cirrop drugs, but is also found in liquid content in vape or e-cigarettes.
"As with sirop drugs, vape has also used a mixture of solvent glycol propylene. So it does not rule out the possibility that vape is also indicated to have DEG and EG contamination as is the case found in the sirop drug," he said as quoted from the UM Surabaya page.
