17 Days Towards The 2022 World Cup: Ben Chilwell Endangered By England's Welfare Access To Hamstring Injuries

JAKARTA Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell is in danger of missing the England national team at the Qatar 2022 World Cup this month after suffering a hamstring injury.

The 25-year-old was injured while helping the Blues to a 2-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb in the last match of the European Champions League group stage 2022/2023 at Stamford Bridge, Thursday, November 3 in the morning WIB.

He seemed set to leave the pitch before the final whistle of the game was blown. Chelsea coach Graham Potter also injured his team.

"It didn't look positive. I thought it was a blow to us on a positive night. It was a blow when I saw it complaining like that. It wasn't a good sight," Potter said.

Until now there has been no official information regarding how long Chilwell will have to pull over. However, he may not be able to play in the World Cup, which is only 17 days away.

Recovering from a hamstring injury can take up to months, depending on how severe the voltage or tearing is. If it had to be operated, the recovery would be longer.

"So, hopefully when we get a scan that's not bad. It can be not bad, but right now we have to expect it to be okay. But obviously we're disappointed," Potter said.

Chilwell previously suffered from a cruciatum ligament that broke out in November last year and had to be absent until May.

Chilwell has played 17 times for England. He was part of the England squad in the 2020 European Cup even though he did not appear during the tournament.

Britain began their World Cup campaign in Qatar against Iran on November 21.
