Launching Pedas Comments On Referee After Madrid Diganjar Penalti Kontroversial, Carlo Ancelotti Was Threatened With Sanctions
JAKARTA Carlo Ancelotti was most likely sanctioned accompanying his team on the sidelines in his team's match after his scathing comments against the referee after Real Madrid were held to a draw by Girona.
Madrid took home one point after playing the 1-1 draw against the visitors in week 12 of La Liga Spain 2022/2023 at the Santiago Bernabeu, Sunday night. Referee Mario Melero Lopez, who led the match, is also considered to have made a number of controversial decisions in this match.
Ancelotti's most highlighted decision was a penalty for Girona in the 80th minute after Los Blancos took the lead ten minutes earlier through Vinicius Jr.'s goal.
Melero gave a penalty after reviewing the video assistant referee (VAR) and stated Marco Asensio handball. This decision made Ancelotti angry after the match with his sharp comments because the ball actually did not hit Asensio's hand.
"It wasn't a penalty, because he didn't touch the ball with his hand. I spoke to Asensio and he told me that the ball hit his chest. He [Asensio] didn't do that [ touch the ball]. They made it up," said Ancelotti, reported by Football Espana.
Apart from Ancelotti, Asensio was also furious with Melero's decision. The anger was expressed by Asensio in a recent post on Twitter social media.
"The definition is not handball that they explained to us at the start of the season. It was amazing today," wrote Asensio sarcastically.
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the comments make Ancelotti and Asensio currently being investigated by the RFEF Integrity Committee.

In previous cases, RFEF often made decisions that were very harsh as to Valencia captain Jose Luis Gaya, who was banned from playing for four games for comments against the referee.
Selain memberikan penalti, Melero juga membuat keputusan kontroversial lainnya dengan menggeluarkan Toni Kroos di menit tambahan waktu menjelang laga selesai. Ia memberi kartu kuning kedua setelah Kroos melanggar Aleix Garcia.
