Erick Thohir: 31 Percent Of Young People In Indonesia Do Not Have A Home
JAKARTA - The Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, said that houses or housing for residents are a form of equity and a symbol of economic growth. Unfortunately, said Erick, around 31 percent of millennials in Indonesia do not yet have a home.
"From the latest data, around 31 percent of millennials in Indonesia do not yet have a home. Even though they are the hope to support the national economy. If we can help provide them, then we make it easier for them to work so that they will be much more productive," said Erick, Friday, October 28.
Erick really appreciates the initiative taken by state-owned companies that provide houses at affordable prices and are easily accessible to transportation for the millennial generation.
"Indonesia will be endowed with demographic bonuses in the form of young people who are important in supporting the national economy. So we must help them in providing housing with easy access, using public transportation, and affordable prices for millennials. This is also a symbol of equity and economic growth," said Erick.
Meanwhile, the President Director of Perum Perumnas, Budi Saddewa Soediro, stated that there were four locations built by the SOE by carrying the TOD concept.
The locations are located in Samesta Mahata Tanjung Barat, South Jakarta, Samesta Mahata Margonda, Depok, Samesta Mahata Serpong South Tangerang and a land housing project, in Samesta Parayasa, Bogor.
"With this concept, housing is built in the Jabodetabek KRL station area, making it easier for residents to mobilize, save travel time, lack pollution, and ease of reaching the location of work activities," he said.
By carrying the concept of TOD (Transit Oriented Development) or housing that is directly integrated with public transportation, it is hoped that the mobility of millennials to work will remain high even though they have to travel a certain distance.
