Depok Develops Local Hias Fish Cultivation, Imported Directly From Lake Cala At Musi Banyuasin
DEPOK - The Department of Technical Management Unit (UPTD) of the Depok City Fish Seed Center (BBI), is developing local ornamental fish cultivation. Balark fish are imported directly from their habitat in South Sumatra.
Head of UPTD BBI Depok City, Nur Hidayat, said last week the city government received bala shark fish directly from its habitat, namely Lake Cala in Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, with a total of 144 heads.
He said the bala shark fish would be a prospective parent. Currently the fish is still in the process of domestication.
"Domestication is the adoption of plants and animals from wild to human daily life. So it is currently being adjusted, because the fish were caught from the wild," explained Nur Hidayat, Thursday, October 27, quoted from Antara.
Apart from being in the adjustment period, said Nur, the fish are also in the observation period. The plan is that the end of the year will start dominating injections.
In addition, Depok City BBI ornamental fish also produces 200 thousand fish seeds of consumption per year to be distributed to the public in an effort to support food security programs.
Nur Hidayat said the provision of consumption fish such as tilapia came from captivity in Sukabumi by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Nila from Wanayasa Purwakarta, and local Gume from the Ciseeng area, Bogor.
"For the place where we have an area of 2 hectares and there are 60 ponds consisting of land, semi-permanent, and permanent. For land ponds for mothers, and semi-permanent for separation," he said.
