44 Percent Of Acute Kidney Failure Cases In Jakarta Comes From Outside The Region
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Health Office noted that not all cases of acute progressive kidney failure were treated in the capital city of Jakarta domiciled.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Office, Widyastuti, said that 56 percent of cases were domiciled in Jakarta, and 44 percent were domiciled outside the region.
"The distribution is not all domiciled in Jakarta. 56 percent of DKI Jakarta, 20 percent of domicile in West Java, 12 percent in Banten, and others outside Jabodetabek," said Widyastuti when met at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Tuesday, October 25.
As of October 24, 2022, there have been 90 cases of acute kidney failure in Jakarta. A total of 49 cases were declared dead, 15 have recovered, and 26 patients are still undergoing treatment.
"26 children are being treated in various vertical hospitals," said Widyastuti.
Meanwhile, nationally, 255 cases of acute kidney failure as of October 24 came from 26 provinces. A total of 143 cases died with a death rate of 56 percent.
Currently, the Health Office in each city is going to hospitals, health centers, and pharmacies to ensure that there is no use or supply of sirop drugs to the public, according to a circular issued by the Ministry of Health.
"We ensure that the liquid drugs in question have been stored separately, or quarantined, in our language. So, they are not used first until later determined by a competent agency," explained Widyastuti.
An atypical progressive acute kidney failure or attypical progressive action childney injury (AKI) is a condition when the kidneys suddenly cannot filter waste from the blood and without knowing the cause.
The Ministry of Health has examined toddlers who have contracted mysterious acute kidney failure who have detected 3 dangerous chemicals, namely ethylene glycol-EG, diethylene glycol-DEG, and ethylene glycol butyl ether-EGBE.
Several types of sirop drugs used by toddlers affected by AKI are proven to have EG, DEG, EGBE, which should not have had a / very few levels in the Gunadi Sadikin drug. Thus, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin issued a decision prohibiting the use of measures.
