KPK Check More Than 50 Witnesses Investigate The Corruption Case Of The Governor Of Papua Lukas Enembe

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has examined more than 50 witnesses in the investigation into the alleged bribery case that ensnared Papua Governor Lukas Enembe as a suspect.

"In investigating this case, the KPK has previously examined more than 50 witnesses in Jayapura, Jakarta, and several other places," said KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata at the KPK's Red and White Building, Jakarta, Monday, October 24.

The KPK has named Lukas Enembe as a suspect in the alleged bribery case related to work or projects sourced from the Papua Provincial Budget.

In investigating the case, Alex said the KPK investigating team had summoned Lukas Enembe to be examined in his capacity as a witness at the Mako Brimob Papua on Monday, September 12.

"The person concerned is not present," said Alex.

Next, the KPK summoned Lukas Enembe to be questioned as a suspect at the KPK's Red and White Building, Jakarta, Monday, September 26.

"The person concerned did not attend due to illness and submitted a letter for treatment to Singapore," he said.

He conveyed that investigators and KPK doctors had met with attorney and personal doctor Lukas Enembe to discuss the medical record or Lukas Enembe's medical record.

This is a follow-up to the absence of Lukas Enembe at the summons as a suspect on Monday, October 26.

The KPK has held a coordination meeting (rakor) regarding the handling of the Lukas Enembe case with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Health, TNI, Polri, Papua Police, Cenderawasih Military Commander, and IDI Doctor Team at the KPK's Red and White Building, Jakarta, Monday.

One of the things that was agreed was that Lukas Enembe would have his health checked by the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Team and questioned by the KPK in Papua.

The KPK has not officially announced the status of suspect Lukas Enembe. Regarding the publication of the construction of the case and the party who has been named a suspect, it will be carried out when forced efforts have been made to both arrest and detain the suspect.
