Flooded, Babinsa And BPBD Officers Evacuate Rukyah, A Sick 75-Year-Old Grandmother In Palangka Raya
PALANGKA RAYA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan Province (Kalteng) together with the TNI and the local Police have evacuated the elderly affected by flooding in the Marang Village area, the local city.
"Today, we are monitoring the flood. At the location, we found sick elderly people, so we evacuated them to get medical treatment," said the Head of BPBD Palangka Raya, Emi Abdiyani, in Palangka Raya, Antara, Sunday, October 23.
She added that her party also immediately evacuated residents to safer areas. This is intended so that special health care can be more optimal.
She said that during the evacuation process, a 75-year-old elderly on behalf of Rukyah was carried by Bhabinkamtibmas assisted by Babinsa and members of the Palangka Raya City BPBD.
From her house, the grandmother was carried to the health center in the knee-deep flood. Besides Rukyah, there were also five other residents who were evacuated because they were also affected by the flood.
"As for the flood conditions, we will continue to monitor it, and even though in some areas it is starting to recede," said Emi.
She asked the public to remain alert to the potential for flooding in the "City of Beauty" area considering that it is still the rainy season. Moreover, it still rains in the upstream area where the river crosses the Palangka Raya area.
Meanwhile, Babinsa of Marang Sub-district, Koramil 1016-02/Bukit Batu, Serka Agus Sunarto, said that flood conditions in a number of areas of Lower Marang Sub-district had begun to recede.
"The condition of the water has begun to recede. However, access roads are still not passable. Because there are still quite high puddles of water at several points of the road," she said.
Agus said that the integrated team will continue to try to monitor all flood inundated areas in the Marang Village area.
