Peningkatan Ekspor Di Kuala Langsa Tunggu Pengredukan Alur Pelabuhan
Acting Governor of Aceh Achmad Marzuki stated that export activities at Kuala Langsa Port will be maximized after dredging the port channel area which is currently impassable by large ships.
"I met with the Minister of Transportation and Pelindo in August to convey about Kuala Langsa so that it can become an export activity and the Minister of Transportation has sent a letter to the Board of Directors of PT Pelindo," said Achmad Marzuki, quoted by Antara on Sunday.
The statement was made on the sidelines of his visit to Kuala Langsa Port accompanied by Langsa Mayor Said Mahdum Majid to see firsthand the development and problems in maximizing export activities at the port.
Currently, his party is waiting for the dredging of the port channel so that later exports in Kuala Langsa can run optimally in an effort to boost the economic growth of the community and local areas.
"We are currently waiting for the action from Pelindo. I will also go to the Minister of SOEs to ask for support for this dredging, if the follow-up has not run optimally," he said.
He said export activities at Kuala Langsa Port would run optimally because there are already several investors who are currently running their business and are committed to investing in the area.
"This means that export activities will run optimally after dredging is carried out because there are already serious investors to carry out export activities through this port," he said.
Acting Mayor of Langsa Said Mahdum Majid said that currently the export activities carried out at the port are like palm shells through STS because ships cannot dock directly on the dock following the dock flow cannot be passed by ships with a capacity of 10-12 thousand DWT.
"This means that exports in Kuala Langsa such as palm oil shells are transported by barge and then transfer cargo to ships in the middle of the sea (ship toship) with a distance of about 16 miles in the Malacca Strait, because ships cannot dock directly at Kuala Langsa Port," he said.
He hopes that with the visit of the Acting Governor of Aceh Achmad Marzuki, Kuala Langsa Port can operate optimally to carry out export activities actively such as past glory, namely as an export route for various needs from Aceh to Malaysia and various destination countries.
"I represent the people of Langsa City who really hope that the Kuala Langsa Port can be active again in an effort to revive regional economic growth and the people in the city," he said.
During the visit, Acting Governor of Aceh Achmad Marzuki also received an explanation from General Manager of PT Pelindo Lhokseumawe Branch and Kuala Langsa Joni Hutama regarding port operational constraints and various potentials that can be developed at the port.
