Curhat The Wastempor Accused By Extortion By PJLP Personnel: Already Small Salaries, Asked For Money And THR

JAKARTA The Individual Other Service Provider (PJLP) of the Central Jakarta Environmental Service Sub-dept. is suspected of making illegal levies (extortion) on waste transport workers. The victim, who wants to be initialized, explained that the incident he experienced, made him even more depressed and difficult, because of his small salary.

The Supreme Court has devoted itself to being a garbage transporter for decades. He and his friends in the profession also felt the pain of making a living in Jakarta. Already, small salaries are burdened with extortion.

"In one month we have to give 50 thousand to 60 thousand. Then every day we have to give 5 thousand to 10 thousand," the Supreme Court told reporters, Thursday, October 20.

The Supreme Court also said that apart from the money given, he and other garbage cart drivers are obliged to give THR. The types of THR given are like cakes, and sirops with various types.

"It's a small salary, but we must fulfill these requirements. If we are late, we will be scolded and we are not allowed to throw garbage at that location. We will deposit everything to the PJLP officers," he said.

Separately, NG, another garbage cart man in the Johar Baru area, also admitted the same thing that he gave Rp10 thousand to the PJLP officer who was guarding Johar Baru's dipo.

"There are cans in front, so we give money in the can and we must give it," he said.

The practice of alleged extortion at the Central Jakarta LH Sub-dept. is not just a figment. In fact, PJLP acknowledged the practice of extortion.

RD, one of the PJLP officers from Johar Baru Sub-district, admitted that the levy from the cart driver had been collected for a long time. The levy results will later be given to truck drivers and tarpaulin opening officers.

"Here it is not forced and in all sincerity the garbage cart man wants to give his money," said RD, one of the PJLP Johar Baru District.

According to RD, there were 40 cartmen who threw garbage in Dipo, Johar Baru District. The cart officer gave a deposit of money throwing garbage into a can.

"We provide the cans, later they will have the money," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Central Jakarta Environmental Agency (Kasudin LH), Edy Mulyanto, said he would check regarding reports of cart pullers.

"There should be no levies in any form, later it will immediately act on this," he said.
