Starlink Aviation Offers Super Fast Internet Network Products For Private Jet Owners
JAKARTA SpaceX, Elon Musk's space business company wants to expand the reach of its satellite internet unit to WiFi services in flights with the launch of Starlink Aviation on Wednesday, October 19. This product offers aircraft antenna customers $ 150,000 amid increasing competition for internet connectivity in the air.
Starlink, a network that has thousands of internet satellites from SpaceX that is growing rapidly, will charge customers seeking broadband internet with private jets between $12,500 and 25,000 per month for the service. This does not include the cost of the hardware paid once for 150,000 US dollars.
Starlink Aviation will start shipping terminals in mid-2023, said Starlink on its website. Self-ordering requires a payment of 5,000 US dollars. This product is equipped with terminals, especially those that can provide internet at speeds of up to 350 Mbps, fast enough for video calls and online games.
SpaceX plans to offer Starlink internet connectivity to Hawaiian Airlines next year. The company is offering services to maritime and RV customers, and already has tens of thousands of individual consumers paying $110 per month with a $599 terminal.
Companies building a low-orbit satellite network that emits broadband internet, such as Starlink from SpaceX and UK-backed satellite operator OneWeb, are competing to catch airlines and private jet services in markets dominated by companies such as Inmarsat and rivals ViaSat, which plans to join as a company.
OneWeb on Tuesday, October 18 announced a deal with broadband giants on the Panasonic Avionics flight, which offers services to about 70 airlines, to market and sell OneWeb broadband services to airlines by mid-2023.
Britain's competition regulator last week referred to the takeover planned by Viasat over rival Inmarsat in an in-depth investigation into fears the ties could hamper new competition in the airline's connectivity market and increase airline's on-board Wi-Fi price.
