Kodam XVIII Kasuari Ready To Join Road Development In West Papua From KKB Terror
PAPUA - Kodam XVIII/Kasuari fully supports various government programs, including road infrastructure work in security-prone areas in West Papua Province.
Pangdam XVIII/Kasuari, Major General TNI Gabriel Lema, said that the road construction connecting Mayerga Village, North Maskona District, Teluk Bintuni Regency to Maybrat Regency handled by the West Papua PUPR Service must continue.
"The construction of road facilities and infrastructure, bridges and others in the West Papua region must run because it is mandated for the welfare of the people," he said in Manokwari, Papua, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, October 19.
He stated that his staff is ready to provide security support to road workers if necessary and in accordance with applicable regulations.
"It is related to whether there needs to be security for workers so that there will be no more cases of violence like some time ago, I think it is in the realm of the local government. If that is in accordance with our main task, if there is a request for the involvement of our assistance, I think it is not a problem. The most important thing is that everything adjusts the provisions and regulations that apply," he explained.
Regarding the incident of violence by armed criminal groups alias KKB against a number of CV Doreri Permai workers who were working on a road link connecting Moskona in Teluk Bintuni Regency to Maybrat Regency on Thursday, September 29, Pangdam Kasuari hoped that residents who knew the whereabouts of the perpetrators would immediately notify the police.
"The police have determined the DPO (People's Search List) against the perpetrators and until now a search is still being carried out. The issuance of DPOs to a number of people indicates that the legal process is ongoing. We certainly fully support the police to immediately arrest the perpetrators," he said.
