Encourage Financial Inclusion, Forward Banks To Play QRIS Services
JAKARTA PT Bank Percreditan Rakyat Magga Jaya Utama (Advanced Bank) together with PT Netzme Kreasi Indonesia are said to have just launched QRIS as a service to customers to make financial transactions safer and more efficient.
Maju Bank Commissioner Johannes Setiadharma said that through the QRIS scheme, customers no longer need to store money in safes or make physical transactions at banks.
"This step is also an effort to increase the level of digital financial inclusion and the expansion of digital technology in the community, especially for MSMEs," he said in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, October 18.
According to Johannes, the company's strategy is considered very potential in supporting the development of business partners.
"QRIS has many benefits for our MSME entrepreneurs, such as fast purchase transactions, neat transaction bookkeeping and sellers avoiding the risk of counterfeit money," he said.
On the same occasion, Netzme CEO Vicky G Saputra stated that his party welcomed the collaboration with Bank Maju. The reason is, this can bring MSMEs and SMEs to a higher level.
Not only that, QRIS is considered a milestone in changing people's behavior to become more comfortable and accustomed to digital transactions.
"Netzme's contribution in supporting economic digitization, especially for MSMEs, is getting wider, after a few months ago Netzme and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government launched QRIS Jakpreneur," he said.
Meanwhile, Banten Province Bank Indonesia Representative Office analyst Khoirunisa Elkarima said that BPR must start being digitized in the 4.0 technology era. Therefore, by transacting using QRIS, it is hoped that traditional markets can soon enter the digital payment system as a whole.
"Bank Indonesia continues to expand the use of QRIS as a digital payment facility that encourages interlinking between banks and financial technology providers," he said.
Similarly, the Senior Supervisor of the Head of Regional Supervisory 1 OJK, Ahmad Husein, said that digitalization is a necessity in the era of digitization.
"If we don't adapt to the times, our payment financial system will be left behind. Customers are now no longer at the bank, but can open a home account. Through digitization, BPR has competitiveness with various other financial institutions," he said.
For information, Bank Indonesia data notes that the number of users of the QRIS digital payment system continues to grow and is approaching the target of 30 million users in 2022. Until now, the number of QRIS users has reached 23 million users with 20.5 million, including MSMEs and 90 percent are small and micro businesses.
Meanwhile, Bank Maju itself launched a QRIS-based digital transaction service at the Malabar Clean Market, Tangerang City earlier this week, Monday, October 17.
