JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, is still concerned about the revitalization of the HI Roundabout Transjakarta Bus Stop even though Anies Baswedan had inaugurated before his term as Governor of DKI ended, some time ago.

In fact, Prasetyo said that his party would form a special committee (pansus) to investigate violations committed by the construction of the HI Roundabout Bus Stop.

A number of parties, including historians, consider the HI Roundabout Bus Stop to violate the procedures for preserving cultural heritage, namely covering a view towards the Welcome Statue which has the status of an alleged object of cultural heritage (ODCB).

"We will review the (problem) of the Welcome Statue in the HI area. Later it will look like a special committee, it will be done," Prasetyo told reporters, Tuesday, October 18.

The Welcome Statue at the HI Roundabout is one of President Soekarno's works. Prasetyo said the statue of a pair of humans holding flowers and waving hands was not just a display.

However, it is more appropriate for Indonesia to be taken into account in the world with its readiness to hold a 4th Asian sporting event.

"Whatever the story, the Welcome Statue, Kempinski's Indonesian Hotel, basically it's a cultural heritage. At that time there was a JPO in Dukuh Atas covering it up, it was dismantled. Apparently, something was more covering it up. Well, we were discussing the cultural heritage issue," explained Prasetyo.

In this discussion, Prasetyo continued, the DPRD will summon all relevant parties, ranging from the BUMD PT Transjakarta, the DKI Cultural Conservation Expert Team (TACB), the DKI Restoration Session Team (TSP), the Regional Secretary, to the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta.

According to him, previously people who could enjoy the view of the Happy Coming Statue from above were exclusive groups. This is because, this view can only be felt in people who can only visit and eat at expensive restaurants in hotels around HI Roundabout areas.
