JAKARTA - Melawi Police, West Kalimantan regulates traffic at flood locations that inundate the connecting provincial roads between Sintang and Nanga Pinoh Melawi Regencies, precisely at the foot of Bukit Mantuk in the Melawi area.
"The water level on the highway ranges from 40 to 55 centimeters, so it is necessary to regulate vehicle traffic so that flood accidents do not occur," said Melawi Police Chief AKBP Sigit Eliyanto Nurharjanto, in Melawi, Wednesday, October 12.
The regulation of vehicle traffic at the flood location was led by the Belimbing Police Chief, AKP Nono Partoyowono.
Sigit said, at 12.30 WIB, Wednesday, the water level increased, this needs to be anticipated in traffic regulation, especially since the flow of vehicles is quite congested.
He appealed to road users to be more careful in prioritizing safety.
Meanwhile, Belimbing Police Chief, AKP Nono Partoyuwono, who was at the flood site, said that currently the water has inundated the road surface in the stone crusher of Batu Buil Village but can still be passed by all types of vehicles.
In addition to regulating vehicle traffic, members of the police also carry out patrols and assist residents if anyone needs evacuation.
"In order to anticipate disturbances in Kamtibmas and traffic accident, Belimbing Police personnel then regulate traffic at flood locations," he said as quoted by Antara.
One of the motorists, Riduan said that crossing the flooded road is indeed quite dangerous, in addition to vehicles that can strike, they can also target the edge of the road which is quite deep.
