BENGKULU - The Agriculture Service of Kepahiang Regency, Bengkulu Province, has submitted a request for additional veterinarians from the central government to be placed in the area."Currently, Kepahiang Regency only has one veterinarian with a regional contract status. We have proposed the need for a veterinarian to the central government some time ago," said Head of the Kepahiang Agriculture Service, Hernawan when contacted in Kepahiang, Antara, Sunday, October 9.He explained that the presence of veterinarians is very much needed in the area in dealing with various diseases that attack livestock such as outbreaks of mouth and nail disease (PMK), rabies and others.The need for a veterinarian in Kepahiang Regency, he said, was at least two people, so that later they could serve the community in eight sub-districts.According to him, the handling of cases of diseases that attack livestock and animals in Kepahiang Regency currently relies on one veterinarian with the help of six technical personnel financed by the local APBD.Limited to these animal health workers, they have to work hard to provide services and also anticipate the possibility of the entry of various types of diseases that can attack livestock and pets.He hopes that the proposal for a request for a veterinarian in Kepahiang Regency can be met by the central government so that later it can add the number of personnel already available and improve services to the community.
