SUKABUMI - The Cibareno River, which is on the border of Cisolok District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, with Cilongrang District, Lebak Regency, Banten, suddenly overflowed.The overflow of the river occurred after the 5.5 magnitude (M) earthquake centered in Bayah Regency, Banten Province, Sunday, October 9. Residents living around the river panicked."Residents scattered out of their houses because a few moments after the earthquake, a rumbling sound was heard coming from the river after it was seen that the Cibareno River water overflowed," said a resident of Cisolok District, Supriadi in Sukabumi, quoted by Antara, Sunday, October 9.Information gathered from local residents, until now the water discharge of the Cibareno River which divides West Java Province with Banten continues to increase.Even residents on the border have not dared to return to their homes because the water has started to enter community settlements.According to Edo, as Supriyadi is familiarly called, there is one house that has broken down and the owner has now fled to his relative's house.Most likely, in the Lebak Regency area, many houses have been flooded due to the overflowing of the Cibareno River.He has also reported this incident to the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sukabumi Regency to immediately review the location of the incident, it is feared that the overflow of the Cibareno River will increase."The overflow of the Cibareno River after this earthquake is bigger than the last 15 years, causing panic among residents who live on the banks of the river. We hope the water can recede soon," he added.Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of the Sukabumi Regency BPBD, Wawan Godawan Saputra, has instructed the sub-district disaster management officer (P2BK) to monitor their respective regions in anticipation of the post-emparate impact."We are still monitoring, but there have been no reports of damage," he said.The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) noted that the earthquake with M 5.5 was centered at 7.09 south latitude (LS).106.08 east longitude (BT) about 26 km southwest, Bayah Regency, Banten with an earthquake depth of : 12 km below sea level.
