JAKARTA - The Islamic Economic Community (MES) encourages the acceleration of the development of Islamic finance and the halal product industry ecosystem so that Indonesia becomes one of the main players in the global arena.
This is one of the important decisions in the 2022 MES National Work Gathering (Silaknas) which takes the theme Strengthening Collaboration for Contributive Sharia Economic Acceleration.
"A faster and more compact movement is needed from all Islamic economic and financial stakeholders, not only at the center but also in the regions," said the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia as well as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of MES Ma'ruf Amin in a statement quoted by Antara, Sunday 9 October.
Ma'ruf Amin said it needed leverage to move and lift the sharia economy to a higher level so that collaboration between the central and regional governments was key.
The government itself is currently intensifying the formation of the Sharia Economic Region Committee (KDEKS) as an effort to level welfare through the development of the leading sector of Islamic economics and finance.
hingKS will later be the spearhead of equitable distribution of community welfare through programs that are in line with maqashid sharia in the regions.
"Regional MES is expected to play an active role in partnering with badminton in accelerating Islamic economic and financial growth in each region," said Ma'ruf Amin.
Minister of SOEs and General Chairperson of MES Erick Thohir stated that the Islamic economic sector has proven to be able to become a source of new economic growth, especially in Indonesia, especially in the midst of global instability.
Sharia's economic opportunities are very promising because the world's Muslim spends up to 2 trillion US dollars in 2021 in the Islamic economic sector, ranging from food, pharmaceutical to tourism.
As the country with the largest Muslim population, Indonesia also has great Islamic economic potential so that it must be able to become the main player in working on this potential.
"Building Islamic economics and finance in Indonesia cannot be done sporadically, but must be congregational by all parties," said Erick.
Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) and the General Treasurer of MES Hery Gunardi explained that his party is building an Islamic Ecosystem Indonesia that synergizes economic empowerment movements in the world of education, health and places of worship such as mosques.
Islamic Ecosystems takes the concept of 3P, namely Profit (economic aspects), People (social aspects) and Planet (environment aspects) which include elements in accordance with maqashid sharia.
Through the Islamic Ecosystem, BSI hopes that moderate collaboration and will be established will not only provide economic benefits but can also be felt by the whole community and all nature.
"BSI is always committed to always maintaining the sharia values that we include in the Islamic Ecosystem concept," he said.
