The KIB Coalition Can Become Larger After Puan Maharani And Airlangga Meet At Monas
JAKARTA - PDI-P DPP chairman Puan Maharani held a meeting with Golkar Party chairman Airlangga Hartato at Monas, Central Jakarta, Saturday, October 8.
Previously, Puan Maharani said that her meeting with Airlangga was in the context of friendship. He wants to equalize the vision and mission between PDIP and Golkar for the 2024 general election.
Political observer Nyarwi Ahmad said this meeting could be the door for a coalition between PDIP and Golkar to the 2024 presidential election.
"The meeting of the two can pave the way for the coalition between PDIP and Golkar to the upcoming 2024 presidential election," Nyarwi said, as quoted from Antara.
According to him, the meeting of the two figures was even very possible to pull the carriages of the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) led by Golkar to establish a larger political coalition block with the PDIP.
This condition, said Nyarwi, makes it possible because the two parties in the coalition, namely PAN and PPP, also have shared experience as parties supporting the current Joko Widodo (Jokowi) government.
The coalition between PDIP and Golkar to advance the presidential and vice presidential pairs, he said, was very possible because PDIP and Golkar are parties that are both known as nationalist parties.
"(The party) is always attached to big narratives to strengthen the spirit of mutual cooperation, strengthen national ties, and continue development agendas," he said.
The coalition between PDIP and Golkar is very likely to advance the pair of presidential and vice presidential candidates. That, said Nyarwi, is because PDIP and Golkar are both parties that prioritize the importance of big concepts and ideas in the political and national arena, surpassing the existence of a figure or figure.
"The majority of PDIP figures often emphasize the importance of ideology in parties in Indonesia. The same thing, about ten years ago, Golkar, through his leaders at that time, also often asserted himself as a 'ide party'," he said again.
Therefore, the UGM Fisipol Political Communications lecturer said that the two parties basically had many similarities.
"If you look at this, the opportunity for Mbak Puan and Pak Airlangga's coalition is actually just a matter of time," he said.
However, he considered that it would be one of the stumbling blocks later if you paired up as a presidential and vice-presidential candidates was about the electability of the two.
"As we know from the survey data submitted by research institutions that are credible, the electability of the two is still in single digits. Acceleration of the electability of the two from time to time has not been able to skyrocket," he said again.
Overall, the Executive Director of Indonesian Presidential Studies (IPS) said that the meeting between Puan and Airlangga was a good step to strengthen consolidation for PDIP and Golkar.
"Mbak Puan and Pak Airlangga are two figures who have a good track record and stand out among political party leaders in Indonesia at this time," said Nyarwi.
