Controlling Inflation Laju In Yogyakarta, Disperindag Gencar Operations For Cheap Markets In 5 Regencies/Cities

YOGYAKARTA - The Department of Industry and Trade (Disperindag) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) intensified market and low-cost operations until December 2022 to control the inflation rate."We are intensifying low-cost markets and markets continuously, we hope that people can access food at affordable prices," said Head of the DIY Disperindag Syam Arjayanti in Yogyakarta, Antara, Friday, November 7.The market and low-cost market operations, said Syam, have been started since September 2022 in five regencies/cities in DIY.According to him, the DIY Disperindag applies a transportation cost subsidy to bring in basic commodities from outside the region so that they are sold to traders through market operations below the market price. Syam hopes that traders can sell back to consumers at low prices."There is a transportation subsidy for distributors so that traders get a qualification at a lower price than the usual price," he said.A number of commodities provided in market operations include various chilies, chicken eggs, shallots, and other needs that have the potential to affect inflation. "Each distributor we provide subsidies (transport boxes) of IDR 2,000 per kilogram of basic needs," he said.Likewise, according to Syam, low-cost markets have been intensified at a number of points close to community activities."Hopefully the public can get food needs at affordable prices and inflation in DIY will remain under control," he said.Based on the observations of the DIY Disperindag in three traditional markets in the city of Yogyakarta, namely Beringharjo Market, Kranggan Market, and Demangan Market on October 6, 2022, the average price of curly red chili is sold at Rp. 42,000 per kg, an increase of Rp. 2,000 per kg from the previous Rp. 51,000 per kg.Next, the price of chicken eggs is Rp. 24,167 per kg or an increase from the previous Rp. 23,500 per kg, the price of IR I rice is still Rp. 10,100 per kg, the price of IR II rice is Rp. 9,933 per kg, sugar is Rp. 13,167 per kg, bulk cooking oil is Rp. 12,400 per kg.
